Maxitainer Bespoke Solutions Case Study
Specialised transit packaging and materials handling solutions devised to meet specific custom requirements
Case Study - KingSpan Tarec supply building insulation to customers who were requesting eradication of corrugated board from building sites.
The corrugated boxes KingSpan had been using to deliver pipe insulation sections were replaced with returnable, reusable twin flute polypropylene units (shown right). These units are ‘no tape’ self closing with a tuck lock system which simultaneously braces the box, making them extremely strong. These returnable units can be reused at least 50 times and offer significant savings over corrugated boxes after just a few trips.
Those savings depend on retention of ‘asset’ and the complete all plastic system illustrated below was devised to achieve this. One of these storage/transit units is delivered to site along with every 60 reusable pipe insulation boxes. As the pipe insulation boxes are emptied of contents, they are flat packed and collated in these site storage units ready for return and reuse. Over multiple uses these units protect the reusable pipe insulation boxes at a cost of just pence per box and yet ensure their longevity so that significant savings can be achieved over time.
Flat packed cap, drop gate sleeve and tray (fixed to custom timber pallet) - one unit sent with every sixty pipe boxes (each containing pipe insulation)
Lid removed with flat pack bi-fold sleeve partially opened.
Sleeve upended into tray - being filled on site with flat packed pipe insulation boxes.
Filled with 60 emptied and flat packed pipe insulation boxes ready to be returned to Kingspan Tarec.
